Extreme H, the world’s first hydrogen motorsport, is proud to announce a pioneering new partnership with The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., naming the global tyre manufacturer as its Official Tyre Partner ahead of its inaugural event next month in Saudi Arabia.

The partnership will see Yokohama supply a prototype tire based on its GEOLANDAR X-AT all-terrain tire which features strengthened durability essential for heavy hydrogen-powered and EV off-road vehicles, designed to withstand some of the planet’s most extreme environments, along with a 38% renewable and recycled raw materials content.

The FIA Extreme H World Cup is the evolution of the award-winning Extreme E Championship. With a shared commitment to innovation, performance, and sustainability, Yokohama’s expertise in tyre technology will play a pivotal role in supporting the championship’s transition to hydrogen-powered racing.

Ali Russell, Managing Director of Extreme H, said: “We are delighted to welcome Yokohama to the Extreme H family. As we break new ground in hydrogen motorsport, having a tyre partner with a proven track record of high performance and sustainability is critical. Yokohama’s innovation and global reputation make them an ideal collaborator as we push the boundaries of what’s possible – both on and off the track.”

Takayoshi Omae, Associate Officer, Acting Head of Consumer Tire Product and Marketing Planning Division of Yokohama Rubber, said: “We are honored to partner with Extreme H at this landmark moment in motorsport history. For this world’s first hydrogen racing event, we will supply a prototype of our GEOLANDAR X-AT. The prototype also features renewable and recycled raw materials.

“We see participation in Extreme H as part of our efforts to maximize the sales ratio of high-value-added products in our consumer tire lineup and to contribute to the realization of a more sustainable world through our cutting-edge technologies and high-performance products.”

The partnership builds on Yokohama’s legacy in motorsport, blending high-performance engineering with an ambitious sustainability agenda. With Extreme H set to begin racing later in 2025, this collaboration marks a key milestone in bringing zero-emission, high-impact sport to life.

Extreme H will serve as a testbed for hydrogen innovation in motorsport, aiming to inspire broader adoption of hydrogen solutions across mobility, energy, and transportation sectors. Stay tuned for dates and location for the first FIA Extreme H World Cup, which will be announced very soon.
