LeBron James has announced the creation of Team AlUla, his own team in E1 Series, the world’s first fully electric powerboat racing championship.

Team AlUla, named after the ancient oasis city in Saudi Arabia, will join the competition in the 2025 season, which kicks off with the E1 Jeddah GP. The team will feature Rusty Wyatt, a Canadian powerboat racing star, and Catie Munnings, the first British female Red Bull motorsports athlete and winner of the FIA European Rally Championship Ladies’ Trophy, as official drivers.

“As a lifelong sports fan and competitor, the opportunity to own an E1 team that represents such a high level of innovation in sports is incredibly exciting. E1 is a new kind of global competition that is revolutionizing powerboat racing, and I’m proud to be at the forefront of its expansion in the second season,” said LeBron.

With the addition of Team AlUla, the championship continues to attract high-profile figures from sports and entertainment, elevating the prestige and competitiveness of this innovative electric powerboat racing series.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Agag, president and co-founder of E1, stated: “We are thrilled to welcome LeBron James and Team AlUla to the UIM E1 World Championship. With LeBron’s championship pedigree and his track record of excellence in world-renowned sports, his entry into E1 sets the stage for an incredibly competitive and high-energy season on the water.”

“Having a lineup of team owners that includes some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment elevates the Championship to a level of unparalleled prestige. This is not just about racing; it’s a gathering of icons redefining what’s possible in water sports. With new teams, cutting-edge technology, and iconic race destinations, the 2025 season marks an exciting evolution for E1,” he concluded.
