British vehicle brand Jaguar Land Rover announced an important partnership with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) to be held in Glasgow, Scotland in November.

As part of the agreement, the manufacturer will provide a fleet of electrified vehicles to world leaders and delegates attending the meeting, including the multi-award winning Jaguar I-PACE, an all-electric performance SUV.

As part of its new global “Reimagine” strategy, Jaguar Land Rover aims to achieve zero emissions from tailpipes by 2036 and net zero carbon across the supply chain, products and operations by 2039.

The company has committed to a science-based target aligned to 1.5 degrees for reducing emissions outlined under the Paris Agreement.

Positive Record at these Meetings

Jaguar Land Rover has a successful history at similar events, including the recent G7 summit in the UK. All vehicles are sourced from existing fleets in the UK, helping to ensure that the carbon footprint is kept low.

COP26 chair-designate, Alok Sharma welcomed the major company looking to position itself on electric technology. “Jaguar Land Rover is an iconic British brand with a proven track record. They are demonstrating climate leadership in their field with award-winning electric vehicles, and I am delighted that world leaders are using them in Glasgow.”

“I look forward to working with Jaguar Land Rover and all our partners ahead of the summit to ensure a successful and inclusive COP26,” he added.

For his part, Thierry Bolloré, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, said, “We are delighted to partner with COP26 and provide a fleet of all-electric vehicles, including Jaguar I-PACE performance SUVs, to deliver emission-free transport at the summit.”

He assured that sustainability is at the core of their business strategy, Reimagine, putting their focus on net-zero carbon targets for 2039, “as creators of the world’s most desirable modern luxury vehicles.”

About COP26

The United Nations Climate Change Conference, organized by the United Kingdom in partnership with Italy, will take place from October 31 to November 12, 2021.

Considering the effects of COVID-19 on the world, the COP Bureau, with the United Kingdom and Italian partners, decided to reschedule the conference originally scheduled for November 2020.
