The Renault Group has long reaffirmed its sustainability commitment, so it was expected to fulfill the promise made for 2021 concerning sales: 20% of them should be from sustainable sources, and this was recently confirmed by Luca de Meo, CEO of the brand.

The French manufacturer has chosen to gradually phase out diesel as the main fuel for its new models, to the point that 13 new fully electrified cars are now available on the market, establishing the brand as a leader in the market.

The Renaulution Plan (Renault Revolution) also has played a fundamental role in achieving this goal, as just 6 months after its launch, the brand managed to establish its movement into the automotive sector, reaching very high popularity levels for its time in progress.

De Meo reported to investors about the first half of the year’s financial results.  He revealed impressive numbers achieved by Renault Arkana, a relatively new coupe-style SUV with 40% of sales through its hybrid variant.

Renault’s Electrification

As for sales of all-electric models, Renault was 11.9% effective, being the car manufacturer not directly linked to electrification (such as Tesla or Rivian) with the highest number of sales in fully electrified vehicles, highlighting three models, according to the CEO.

“We have orders for basically three models: Dacia Spring, Renault Zoe and Twingo ZE, which clearly surpasses our expectations.”

The Renault Zoe is a model on the market since 2012, so it is not surprising to find that it is one of the brand’s best-sellers at a sustainable level; actually, according to figures from market analyst Matthias Schmidt, it ranks as the third best-selling model across Europe in the first half of 2021.

The Twingo ZE model also has plenty of time available on the automotive market (2014) with almost 11,400 units sold so far in 2021. Meanwhile, the Dacia Spirng has 16,000 manufacturing orders to be assembled in China, but only 2,000 units have been delivered so far.
