The first category of 100% electric passenger cars in the world, Pure ETCR, debuted in style at the Autodromo de Vallelunga to write a new page in motorsport with a series with peculiar rules, driving styles and above all for the support towards sustainable mobility.

On Italian soil, Mikel Azcona made history by becoming the first rider to win a valid Pure ETCR after a high-impact weekend at Vallelunga aboard his Zengo Motorsport X CUPRA. However, there is a competitor who came very close to him and about whom little was said after the uproar generated by the Spanish.

This is Jean-Karl Vernay, Hyundai Motorsport N Veloster ETCR driver, who showed a more than admirable performance in the first race of the Pure ETCR to be only five units behind the leader, Azcona. Therefore, the next appointment at the MotorLand de Aragón will be full of emotion, adrenaline and suspense from start to finish.

Precisely, Vernay will arrive with all the necessary motivation to the Spanish circuit layout, being fully aware of the pace that his car showed in Vallelunga, which is why it is not unreasonable to think that the French driver assaults the top of the championship and relegates Azcona to second place in the general table.

“We can be happy with our points position. Second and first in my battles on Saturday and then winning my SuperFinal on Sunday (in Vallelunga) is a good start,” said Vernay.

Pure ETCR moves to Aragon

In addition, he already denotes an attitude to think about the championship, because despite acknowledging that the Cupras were fast in Vallelunga, he also assured that the harvest of units obtained in the inaugural race of the Pure ETCR is of the utmost importance to think about the future, without neglecting that they need to improve a little to be able to get closer to their rivals.

On the other hand, Vernay showed how much he has improved his driving, since at the Autodromo Vallelunga he has always had a couple of difficult corners for him, so leaving Italy with a good number of points was practically a victory, in addition to act as an emotional injection to fight for the victory in the next appointment when the Pure ETCR moves to Aragon from July 9 to 11.
