Hamilton continues with intact aspirations despite Rosberg’s team dominance in Extreme E

Despite the fact that Lewis Hamilton has not been seen in person treading the terrain of the first two races of Extreme E, the seven-time Formula 1 champion has used his social networks and other digital platforms to encourage his team, the X44.

With two greats like Sebastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez as drivers, the team of the record man in the highest category of motorsport has not been able to control what was also his staunch rival, Nico Rosberg, whose squad has won the two X-Prix disputed so far.

In fact, part of that fight between Rosberg and Hamilton was staged last weekend in Senegal when Molly Taylor (Rosberg X Racing) and Cristina Gutiérrez (X44) collided, taking the Spanish runner out of the game.

The incident practically paved the way for Taylor and Johan Kristoffersson, who ended up winning the race. The pair of drivers also managed to win the Desert X-Prix before and comfortably lead the championship.

Praise against adversity

However, Hamilton is not daunted by the emerging hegemony of the Rosberg team and applauds the performance of his pupils so far this season.

“It is being incredible, the stage looks beautiful and I am very proud of what Cristina and Sébastien have done. It is incredible to see them work together and see their growth, which is something natural when you are in front of a new car and you go to such different places.”

“From the comments of the drivers, I understand that this circuit in Senegal was much more technical than the one in Saudi Arabia. So it is incredible to see them both perform at the highest level and it is exciting to see it for me,” stressed the Briton.

The X44 boss continues with his illusions intact by investing his money and dreams in Extreme E. “It’s the first time I’ve had a team and being part of something like that, which is so focused on fighting climate change, is very exciting.”

He stressed that he will maintain his firm commitment in this category, which pursues a valuable purpose to protect the environment and reverse the climate damage that exists until now.

“That is what has brought me to this championship, if you look at the future of the sport it is a great platform to push technology and go to different places and raise awareness of the problems we face. I think Formula 1 and other greats championships can learn from us, promoting this technology is very, very important,” said Hamilton.

The excitement of the Extreme E returns on the weekend of August 28 and 29 in Greenland, another of the paradises affected by climate change.
