Alessandro Zaccone surprises with his youth in the FIM Enel MotoE World Championship, and has become one of the favorite riders to win the tournament, despite his little experience on the grid.

He was born on January 16, 1999 in Rimini, Italy. At just 9 years old, Zaccone began to compete, becoming the regional champion of minibikes and fourth at the national level. That would be the starting point for the evolution of it on two-wheelers.

The Italian’s next experience was the MiniGP and he played some races in the Moto3 category. He jumped into the international arena in 2013 with the Honda Italia team, at the Imola Grand Prix corresponding to the Junior European Cup.

A year later, he participated in the last four races of the European Superstock 600 championship with a Honda motorcycle from the Talmacsi Racing team. After testing, he was designated as the starting driver in the competition, where he finished in 19th place.

In 2016, he became a star rider for San Carlo Team Italia, and competed in races in the European Supersport championship. At the command of a Kawasaki ZX-6R, Zaccone finishes in third place in the reserved classification, and seventeenth in the general table.

In the 2018-2019 academic year, the Italian served as the starting rider in the CEV Moto2 class, with the Promoracing team. Later, he moved from the WorldSBK paddock to the FIM CEV Repsol paddock when he competed in the Moto2 European Championship.

He closed his debut season with a fourth-place finish at Valencia and began his 2019 campaign with a debut win at Estoril.

Arrival at the MotoE

Zaccone’s participation in the WorldSBK and the FIM CEV Repsol, served as a platform for his signing in MotoE in 2020. During his debut season in the electric series, the Italian participated in seven races in which he accumulated 37 points and finished in position number 12 in the general table.

Despite its discreet numbers in 2020, the start of the 2021 harvest has started in style for Zaccone, who took the victory in the first round held in Jerez, while in the second round, held in Le Mans, also stood on the podium finishing third.

With this start, the Italian shows that he is up to the task to compete in a tough grid of drivers that has the category of Eric Granado, Jordi Torres and Dominique Aegerter, among others.
