After the exciting debut of the FIM Enel Moto E World Cup season in Jerez, Spain, the competition moves to Le Mans for the next electric motorcycle battle at the venue that decided the title in 2020.

Alejandro Zaccone, who took the first win of the year, will have all the spotlight on him after his consistent performance paid off in the Spanish tournament. Now, he will have to prove at the Shark Grand Prix of France that what happened was no coincidence

The Italian will have most of the attention after his impressive weekend at Jerez, but Le Mans could prove much more difficult. Zaccone said at the post-race press conference that attending the Cup in 2020 was challenging as the mixed conditions made it particularly difficult for those who, like him, had never driven at Le Mans before.

The challenge of the favorites

One of the favorites for the title, Dominique Aegerter, came in second place and will surely want to get back on top. Despite the bad luck of 2020, the Swiss has a lot of experience at Le Mans.

On his side, the defending champion, Jordi Torres, has on his resume the victory of the first MotoE race, held in France, before finishing sixth in the second to take the trophy home. After starting the 2021 season in the top three, he will be looking to score a second consecutive podium.

On the other hand, Eric Granado will try to regain some ground. Once again, he was the fastest man on the track, he dominated the E-Pole and put on an impressive show until a crash ended his hopes. However, his speed was almost inviolable until his incident. Last year, Le Mans was not exactly his best performance, but he will strive for a steady pace to get the best out of it.

Pilots with opportunities

Apart from the favorites, in the background there are several runners who can surprise. Mattia Casadei took a step forward in Jerez, but he will not resign himself to a supporting actor position and wants to surpass the sixth place in the premiere race.

Another pilot to watch in France is rookie Miquel Pons. After some impressive performances in the preseason, he had a pretty poor first weekend, at least until Sunday, when he completed the top 5 and replaced his colleague Fermin Aldeguer as the best rookie.

Hikari Okubo also drove a solid rookie career in seventh place and has more ambition for the future, as does Andrea Mantovani, who stepped up on the first day of the electric championship.

After a brilliant start to the season in Jerez, the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup is ready to receive the category of riders that make up the grid. The E-Pole will be held on Saturday, while the moment of truth will be on Sunday in a historic square in different categories such as Le Mans.
