Through an official press release, F1 Academy has revealed that the top five drivers in the 2024 season standings will be rewarded with FIA superlicense points.

Thus, the 2024 season champion will be awarded 10 superlicense points, while those who finish second and third will be awarded seven and five points, respectively. The fourth place finisher will receive three points, while the fifth place finisher will receive one point in recognition of her performance.

As part of a new strategy to promote local talent in the areas where F1 Academy competes, the option of wildcard entries for certain races on the calendar will be implemented from this season onwards.

In collaboration with race organizers, the series will select promising young drivers from the host region and provide them with the opportunity to participate in a specific weekend as special guests.

“After a positive inaugural season, we are taking two significant steps towards 2024. For our top five drivers to receive FIA Super License points is testament to the strength of the F1 Academy’s on-track proposition and will help drive their progression as they move up the single-seater pyramid,” says Susie Wolff, CEO of the F1 Academy.

During races that feature a wildcard, PREMA Racing, the reigning champion, will assume responsibility for operating the additional car, in addition to its three regular entries. They will also provide support and coaching to the driver selected for the special opportunity.

Wildcard entrants will have the opportunity to accumulate points in the driver standings, adding excitement and competitiveness to the series. In the meantime, further details on the wildcard entries will be announced in due course.

“The introduction of wildcard entries will promote regional talent, interact with local communities and increase the talent pool in the regions in which we compete, which will be important for our long-term growth and ensure that we are creating even more opportunities for women to get involved in our sport,” Wolff concluded.
