Andretti driver Jake Dennis heads into Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E ABB World Championship as the reigning champion for the first time in his career.

After a consistent performance, scoring 11 podiums in the 16 rounds of the calendar to set a new record, he is now eager to get back to racing after the summer break is over.

“I definitely celebrated with all my friends and family,” Dennis said in a Formula E interview. “I’ve had some time to myself. I moved out of London, so I’ve been keeping busy, but I’m definitely looking forward to getting back to work. It feels like it’s been a long time since London. I haven’t really driven since then.”

With regulations limiting the amount of development that can be done on cars for season 10, Dennis knows that the TAG Heuer Porsche powertrain is still one of the best on the grid.

“We still have an incredibly strong powertrain,” continued the Briton. “I don’t think there can be much development going into this season. There are always tweaks here and there, but it will most likely be small tweaks.”

“I expect companies like DS will definitely close the gap on us. It will also continue to be difficult to beat Jaguar TCS Racing and the other Porsche team. Trying to do what we did last year is going to be extremely difficult with so many podiums and wins. It’s never easy when the competition closes,” Dennis said.

With just over 70 days to go until the Mexico City E-Prix on January 13, 2024, there is plenty of time to review the data collected from the test and simulations.

Mexico City is a very familiar circuit for the all-electric championship, having raced there for the first time in 2016. Last season, Dennis won the event and began a title campaign that would crown him champion in front of his home fans at the final doubleheader in London.

In addition to the return of Mexico, Formula E will revisit many other familiar favorites, plus some new locations.”I think Tokyo is definitely the standout race on the calendar,” Dennis added of the Japanese capital’s debut on the calendar this season.

“I’ll probably speak for everyone here. It’s fantastic that we’re taking part in the race in such a prestigious country. Obviously the city of Tokyo is going to be very, very special,” he added.

Dennis finished the pre-season test in 12th position, with a time of 1m24.848s.
