Injuries and disastrous results in Season 9 of Formula E, made Robin Frinjs immediately close his chapter of a year wearing the colors of ABT Cupra.

After spending four years at Envision and watching from the other sidewalk as they took the team championship title, it was a painful blow for the racer who now returns home.

Between 2018-2022, the Dutchman scored two victories and secured a best result of fourth in the drivers’ standings during the 2018-2019 campaign in front of the wheel of the reigning monarchs.

Frijns broke his wrist during an accident at the inaugural Mexico City E-Prix, forcing him to sit out for four rounds.

In his return to racing, he only finished in the points twice, surprisingly in Berlin, a competition plagued by difficulties due to heavy rainfall.

“I’m very excited to start again with Envision Racing after a year away from the team, it really feels like home,” said Frijns, who earlier this month was confirmed as a BMW driver ahead of the brand’s return to the World Endurance Championship.

“It will be fantastic to join a championship-winning team. Envision Racing has been fighting at the top virtually every season, and I can’t wait to get started,” he added.

He celebrated the fact that the team’s car is one of the most competitive on the grid, so he is confident that they will be back at the top of the standings. Frijns will be Sebastian Buemi’s teammate and will replace Nick Cassidy, who agreed with Jaguar Racing for the 2024 campaign.

In that regard, Sylvain Filippi, Envision’s managing director, said, “It’s fantastic to have Robin back in the team after a year away.”

“He has enjoyed some memorable moments with Envision over the years and has always been pushing at the front and regularly angling for the podium. The combination of Robin and Sebastien will be very strong, and we can’t wait to start season ten.”
