After turning the page on the electrifying double-header of the Jakarta E-Prix, Formula E teams are starting to set their sights on the next stop in Rome.

One of the teams making changes for the Italian event is Envision Racing, which announced that Jack Aitken will be back at the wheel of its Jaguar I-TYPE 6.

After driving a Formula E car for the first time in May at the Berlin Rookie Test, Aitken will now have one more opportunity to test for the Silverstone-based outfit before the two-day test in July.

Aitken, 27, completed 19 laps during his first run in Berlin, assisting the team as they continued to gather data and knowledge on the new GEN3 car.

The British-South Korean racer will now have one more opportunity to test that machinery as the team’s season reaches a challenging climax for the title.

The opportunity to introduce new talent is another of the attributes that Formula E presents as an innovative and paradigm-shattering championship within automotive.

Teams may field someone who has sampled Formula E machinery before but they must not be drivers included in the Season 9 Entry List. Another rule is that they cannot have competed in a Formula E race in their previous career.

The aim of these regulations is to give the best young talent a pathway to compete at the top of the motorsport ladder with a taste of Formula E and the opportunity to impress prospective teams in the world’s leading electric racing series.

The choices the teams have submitted to Formula E and the FIA will be revealed in the run-up to Rome, with Envision Racing already signaling that Jack Aitken will be back in the car following his departure in Berlin.
