As part of its strategy to lead the energy transition, Porsche aims to achieve a CO2-neutral balance across the entire value chain by 2030, including the lifetime of future electric models.

The German brand is not only focusing on the future of electromobility in on-road models, but also in racetrack models. By participating in the new era with the Formula E Gen3 single-seater, Porsche is reaffirming its involvement in the first Electric World Championship, as well as its aim to lay the foundations for future mobility solutions by developing battery-powered racing cars.

The reduction of charging times is an important factor for the acceptance of electric cars in everyday life, beyond the racetracks. This therefore contributes significantly to the advancement of electromobility.

Porsche sees it as an interesting challenge to play an active role in shaping the successful tournament and thus give electromobility a new impetus on a global scale.

Award Winners

The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team received the FIA’s three-star environmental award. It was awarded by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile as part of its World Championship Certification Program.

The three-star certification is an award for Porsche’s success in motorsport and its innovations in optimizing existing processes. This affects both its performance and the creation of conditions for sustainable activity.

“The FIA three-star environmental certification is an excellent award and recognition of our efforts to systematically and consistently reduce the environmental impact of motorsport,” said Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport.

“At Porsche, environmental management and sustainability are integral parts of the corporate strategy. Our goal at Porsche Motorsport is to make a relevant contribution to the company’s sustainability strategy in the future through the power of innovation and rapid responses to change. This distinction from the FIA serves as an incentive and motivation for us to maintain a steady course on this path,” he explained.

Technology Lab

The Porsche Development Center in Weissach is the heart of Porsche Motorsport and has maintained high environmental standards since 2005. In 2019, with its entry into Formula E, Porsche made a clear commitment to the all-electric future of motorsport.

The brand sees this championship as an accelerator for innovative and sustainable mobility technologies. At the same time, the company is making progress in electrification for customer racing, for example, with the Mission R and the Cayman GT4 e-Performance, prototypes of a future race car in an electric single-brand cup.

Porsche Motorsport aims to improve sustainability in the areas of infrastructure, products and events. For racing, the team is developing its own environmental benchmark. A pilot project was launched at the beginning of the 2022 season to assess and identify the impact of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

For its racing suppliers, Porsche Motorsport is gradually raising standards with sustainable products and processes. Accordingly, the sustainability rating (S-Rating), which is already in place for the production process, will also be applied in the sport.
