Formula E Adds New Electricity Industry Partner

Formula E and Southwire, one of North America’s leading producers of electrical power transmission cables and an emerging influence in the electrified industry, announced a strategic partnership for Season 9 of the World Championship.

Southwire becomes the official supplier of the competition, making available its vast electricity transmission and distribution capacity, which reaches millions of people around the world.

Southwire’s long-standing commitment to sustainability has been evident throughout its history, with the company committed to developing innovative systems and solutions.

Green Operations

To date, Southwire has focused on exercising environmental stewardship and improving the well-being of its communities through its core principles of Grow Green, Live Well, Give Back, Do the Right Thing and Build Value.

“At Southwire, we are at the forefront of grid modernization planning and distributed energy system optimization,” said Rich Stinson, the company’s president and CEO.

“We understand the complexities around building a sustainable EV charging infrastructure where energy resiliency is critical, and we will continue to provide valuable electrical solutions,” he added.

For his part, Matt Scammell, Commercial Director of Formula E, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership by highlighting Southwire’s extensive experience in key areas of the electric industry, which will help the championship deliver world-class events for fans.

“With clear and proven work around environmental sustainability and local social initiatives, they are also clearly aligned with Formula E’s mission of improving sustainable human progress,” he said.

Along those same lines, Burt Fealing, Southwire’s Executive VP, General Counsel and Chief Sustainability Officer, noted that the company’s focus on environmental, social and governance issues over the past two decades has positioned them has positioned them as a leader in sustainability and allows them to partner with Formula E.

“Our products, solutions and drive for innovation are aligned with Formula E’s vision to accelerate the shift to an electric future,” he said.
