With just over a month to go until the start of Formula E season 9, teams are already beginning to reveal their cars for the event that represents the arrival of the Gen3 era.

DS Automobiles and PENSKE Autosport unveiled the new “DS E-TENSE FE23” in public, with new signing and reigning Formula E world champion driver Stoffel Vandoorne and two-time champion Jean-Eric Vergne present to show the charge for the new era of the squad.

DS Automobiles comes into the Gen3 era looking to build on its successes so far in the competition, with a pair of driver and team titles, plus benchmark records of 10 wins, 15 Julius Baer Pole Positions and a total of 28 podiums.

The French automaker partnered with PENSKE AUTOSPORT from season 9 and hopes its DS E-TENSE FE23, with that distinctive black and gold livery, will keep the team at the front of the grid.

The partnership is looking to target more wins and titles, as well as new brands, and they claim their continued involvement in the world’s leading electric racing series is key to accelerating their research and development work, with DS Automobiles‘ full consumer lineup going EV by 2024.

New Alliances

Beatrice Foucher, CEO of DS Automobiles noted that innovation is born out of competition. “Since DS Automobiles was founded, we have placed electrification at the heart of our global strategy.”

“Our successes in Formula E, as the first premium manufacturer in the category, and the numerous records achieved with the second-generation car, have boosted technological know-how and enhanced our reputation. Today, we are starting a new chapter with a renowned team, exceptional drivers and a clear objective: to continue winning titles to accompany the launch of our new all-electric models from 2024,” he added.

For his part, Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance Director assured that “this is an “extremely exciting moment for DS Performance”. “After our great successes with the Gen2 car, we present today the new DS E-TENSE FE23: our third-generation Formula E car that is lighter, faster and more powerful.”

He stressed that it also represents a new chapter for the team they are starting with PENSKE AUTOSPORT, one of the most important brands in all of motorsport.

“Over the next few seasons, our new car will be entrusted to two great drivers, Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne. These two champions are extremely fast and reliable and will undoubtedly showcase the technological capabilities of our cars and the DS brand,” he said.
