Traditional technology companies have not lagged behind with respect to the innovations of this century, and are joining new business models that are also environmentally friendly.

This is the case of Toshiba, which has adapted to the new times and presents a wide range of services within the framework of electromobility. The company offers its customers machinery with competitive performance and prices, as well as a technical assistance service when purchasing its products.

Recently, the Japanese company announced a partnership with battery developer ZapBatt, from which emerged the creation of a Lithium Titanium Oxide battery aimed at boosting micromobility.

The innovation built for electric bicycles is managed by software equipped with algorithms based on artificial intelligence, achieving a faster, smarter and more economical system, which allows battery optimization in real time.

Combined Elements

Through an official statement, Toshiba and ZapBatt explained that this type of battery uses other materials instead of graphite to create the anode structure. This composition results in an extremely safe battery with a long service life that charges faster than any other type.

In conjunction with Toshiba SCiB cells, ZapBatt software uses a combination of machine learning and proprietary hardware to continuously improve battery performance.

The software analyzes 26 data points, illustrating how the battery performs to improve charging operations. Over time, the batteries provide data that allows the system to become even more energy efficient.

Charging Times and Warranty

Toshiba LTO batteries charge fully in 20 minutes, achieve a service life of at least 20 years, and offer minimal risk of thermal runaway.

In addition, the cells can operate in sub-zero temperatures as low as -30°C. The Japanese company says that unlike other chemicals, lithium titanium oxide is very efficient in a variety of conditions, not just on a lab bench.

Toshiba is currently conducting a pilot demonstration test project on electric bicycles in North America, and it is estimated that they will be on the market next year.
