The road to the official debut of E-Bike Grand Prix, the technologically advanced electric bike series, continues taking shape after the announcement of two new additions to the team: Richard Bate and Sandy Ma.

Bate will serve as Health and Safety expert after accumulating a long experience that proves his position in the new e-bike category. Formula E is part of his repertoire, where he served as Head of Health, Safety and Environment for five years, accrediting ISO45001, an international standard for health and safety.

30 years of experience ranging from Olympic Games, cycling events, film, television and music will be at the service of E-Bike Grand Prix. Richard was even behind the safety of one of the most successful car shows, Top Gear, providing his expertise during its live broadcasts.

“I am incredibly excited to join EBK GP, which is a great opportunity to bring together my expertise in health, safety and sustainability, in addition to my passion for cycling and creating a better environment,” said Bate via an official press release issued by the series.

On the other hand, Sandy Ma will be the Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing development, managing the operational team and liaising with all stakeholders in the category at the technical partner level. In addition, she will have a board role alongside Andy Moss, CEO and the other organizers.

His experience in sporting event management and marketing exceeds 20 years, with highlights including the Shanghai Grand Prix and the Asia Festival of Speed. His image is also behind the Goldenport brand, a group dedicated to the construction and management of circuits in China.

“I am delighted to join the team as the race series develops at a good pace. EBK GP is a great opportunity for a new motorsport to not only provide an exciting spectacle, but also address some of the most important issues about how we interact with our environment,” said Sandy Ma.

Finally, the two are the newest additions to the E-Bike Grand Prix ahead of the category’s official debut, scheduled to officially begin in 2023 in 10 different cities, but with an exhibition event to be held later this year.
