Barely a year old, Extreme E managed to sneak into motorsports fans’ homes and quickly earned its place as one of the most attractive divisions. The power of combining speed with sustainability, along with its unique way of raising awareness regarding climate change caught more than one eye.

Therefore, the second season of the 100% electric off-road category promises more excitement, action and adrenaline, and it is just a month away from seeing the SUVs compete on the tracks. The first will be run in Saudi Arabia from February 19-20, just as the previous campaign began, but this time with more media attention and sustainable focus.

Rosberg X Racing will be out to defend the title earned during the inaugural campaign after an exciting and heart-stopping battle at the final race against X44, where both finished equal on points (155), but with more wins (3-1), Johan Kristoffersson and Molly Taylor managed to prevail over Cristina Gutiérrez and Sébastien Loeb.

By 2022 there will possibly be three new competitions. Two of them are fully confirmed and have been left at the back of the grid to define the Championship. Chile and Uruguay will see the ODYSSEYs give their best on track. On the other hand, the third X Prix could be in Scotland, although it is still to be confirmed, as in case it is negative, it will return to Senegal.

The ‘Race for the Planet’ will take on a new battle starting in February. It is important to note the footprint of the electrified category created by Alejandro Agag. It’s not just about going, running and leaving. Contact is still maintained with the locations selected to compete in order to keep abreast of their problems and possible solutions, as well as helping to create them.

“Using our sport with purpose platform, Extreme E delivered truly groundbreaking action in its first season, on and off the race track, and now we are ready to do it all over again, with more experience and determination than ever,” said Agag, CEO and founder.

Also noteworthy is the arrival of a new team, and perhaps, the most renowned that the category has at the moment: McLaren XE. “As we embark on the second chapter of our history, we are proud to finally welcome Zak Brown and his team to the party, and we know they will have a big impact. We are also adding a new continent to our journey, South America, a very important home for both motorsport fans and the weather,” he concluded.
