X44 has been recognized as the first winner of the Extreme E Sustainability Award after topping the leaderboard on the ‘ Count Us In’ challenge aimed at tackling the climate crisis, the primary cause of existence and key objective of the 100% electric off-road category.

Extreme E worked together with ‘ Count Us In’ to mix sport and racing passion to reach fans’ hearts, raise awareness and motivate them to be part of the change by taking practical steps to help reduce climate change impacts on the planet.

Riding a bicycle, not using single-use plastic, eating plant-based food, walking or opting for an electric vehicle are part of the actions promoted by Extreme E Count Us In to build a more sustainable future. Now, each step taken by fans was attributed to their respective favorite teams.

At the end of the inaugural season, whoever had the most steps would take home the category’s Sustainability Award, being the division created by Lewis Hamilton after securing 792 committed steps. In second place was JBXE with 749, and the podium was closed by the champion, Rosberg X Racing with 422.

The award numbers make the competition proud, as in total they were able to inspire 3,207 steps made by 1,231 ODYSSEY 21 fans to save and eradicate the environment 1,241,223 kilograms of carbon dioxide.

“I am delighted that we were able to present X44 as the winners of the Sustainability Award through the first Count Us In Challenge of the series…,” said Alejandro Agag, founder and CEO of the category. “… We will continue to push the boundaries and highlight the issues we face, along with the need to act now to help protect our future.”

On the other hand, Sébastien Loeb, one of the team’s drivers alongside Cristina Gutiérrez, was happy after the recognition earned: “I joined the team hoping to discover more about the environment while doing what I love, and I have learned a lot from the series and the different places we visit; in fact, I bought my first electric car last year!”.
