The inaugural season of Extreme E is not over yet and the category can already boast of having four individual and prestigious distinctions in their showcases. This time, they received twice the Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards, reaffirming the great impact since their arrival at the beginning of the year.

The 100% electrified SUV division won the award for Technical Innovation (in sport) and for Creative Use of AR/VR during an evening ceremony held in London, England. These awards are given by Broadcast Magazine and aim to highlight the leading role of technology for creating and broadcasting productions.

Ali Russell, Marketing Director of Extreme E, spoke about a new award won by the category created by Alejandro Agag, raising the recognition to Aurora Media Worldwide and North One, Extreme E’s broadcast partners that have played a key role by broadcasting the races.

“The Broadcast Tech Awards are highly appreciated by industry professionals and, therefore, we are delighted to have won in two categories…. To be honored for creativity and innovation among some of the most admired productions in television is really a good thing for our series, especially in its inaugural season – we’re thrilled!”

The pair of distinctions join the Sustainability Award from Leaders Sports, Sports Production of the Year at the Broadcast Sport Awards, Silver Award for Sports Innovation and Bronze Award for Sustainability in Sport from Sports Business Awards.

To close a successful debut season, Extreme E will move to Dorset, UK, to define the first champion of the electric division at the Jurassic X Prix, where Johan Kristoffersson and Molly Taylor, of Rosberg X Racing, play the title against Cristina Gutierrez and Sebastien Loeb, of X44.
