Extreme E is becoming more and more established. Its mission to promote sustainability through electric racing has managed to reach many parts of the world, different cultures and people. On this occasion, they have been recognized by Leaders Sports Awards, who awarded sustainability prize to the division.

The ceremony was held at Twickenham Stadium (United Kingdom), and there, the 100% electric SUV category made its core mission to promote behaviors and changes that will contribute to reducing climate change, as well as creating awareness among the youngest minds, who will be the ones responsible for taking the reins in the future.

All this has been achieved in just the first season, with only three X Prix contested so far, denoting the projection of the division created by Alejandro Agag. Undoubtedly, the future looks promising for Extreme E, having everything to position itself as one of the best categories of motorsport.

Using fully electrified vehicles, charging them with zero-emission hydrogen fuel cells, employing a boat for logistical transfers and powering the paddocks with a second-life battery, are the premises that the category complies with when disputing green races.

Now, the work done off the track also speaks for itself. Create events, cultivate sustainable practices, recover spaces and improve the quality of life of people are also objectives that Extreme E has met at the locations visited (Saudi Arabia, Senegal and Greenland).

Education programs during the Artic X Prix taught hundreds of young people about climate change. Moreover, it also changed the lives of young people at a school in Kangerlussuaq, where they were used to being powered by a diesel plant. Now, they have a solar panel powering their education, eliminating completely the annoying noise and pollution previously generated.

“We are thrilled to win this award from Leaders Sports, an organization that recognizes the industry’s strongest players. As a first award, for our inaugural season, it will always be very special, and we are honored to receive this great endorsement for our efforts to create the most sustainable motorsport championship possible,” said Julia Fry, Communications Director for Extreme E.

“This is just the beginning of the journey and there is still much more to come.”
