Veloce Racing Relies on Female Talent by Signing Hedda Hosås

British team, Veloce Racing, reaffirms its commitment to Extreme E’s policy of gender parity with the inclusion of talented female drivers to be part of the electric series.

In this sense, the team signed another rising female star. The Norwegian rallycross racer, Hedda Hosås, will take part in the rookie test to be held on Tuesday, October 26, after the Island X-Prix in Sardinia.

Hosås will be looking to follow the footsteps of W-Series champion Jamie Chadwick, the Brazilian sensation, Bruna Tomaselli, and the most recent female driver to get behind the wheel of the Veloce machinery, Emma Gilmour, who has already impressed on her debut at the Arctic X Prix in Greenland.

Following Chadwick’s breakthrough discovery as a future superstar, Veloce Sports, the SW6 team has a track record of spotting, developing and promoting the best female talent in motorsport, so Hosås seems to be coming to the right place.

Significant Experience

The Nordic native’s young career started out in motocross before transitioning to rallycross. Recently, she has been competing in the Norwegian Rally Championship and made a guest appearance on the Danish championship in September.

Hosås will be joined at the rookie event by Veloce Racing reserve and male development rider, Lance Woolridge, who will enjoy the opportunity to test the ODYSSEY 21 on an official X Prix course for the first time.

“I’m very excited to be involved with Extreme E. It will be a completely new experience as I’ve been driving in rallycross until now,” said Hosås.

She explained that the car is much bigger, so it will take some time to get used to. However, she is delighted that it is electric because it is the future. “I can’t wait and I feel very lucky to have this opportunity,” she added.

Great Reception

Rupert Svendsen-Cook, Director of Veloce Racing noted that they are proud to develop and promote the best female talent in motorsport with the addition of Hedda, along with what they have achieved with Jamie Chadwick in both the W Series and Extreme E.

“The challenges of Extreme E are particularly unique, with very limited mileage, a key factor on some teams choosing to hire mature talent with more experience. As a forward-thinking company, here at Veloce we believe the strategy to invest in youth is the right one,” he said.
