Enel X to Continue as Main MotoE Sponsor

With the 2021 MotoE World Cup season already completed, the electric motorcycle series announced a contract extension with their main sponsor, Enel X. The renewal agreement until 2024 consolidates a partnership that started with the category’s debut, which the company has been naming since 2019.

Enel Group’s Global Business Line, will continue to be the official smart charging partner of the competition, which it provided with smart and customized electric bike charging solutions. The agreement has an extension option until 2025-2026. In addition, the company will be MotoGP’s sustainable energy partner.

The information was confirmed by Dorna Sports, where Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X declared to be very happy to continue contributing their technology to MotoE. “This is a further step that underlines how important it is for Enel X to continue developing innovative technologies for eMotorsports.”

“The challenge is to combine the adrenaline of the track with the concept of sustainability behind the event, and since the beginning of the collaboration with MotoE, we understood that the championship represents the perfect environment where to implement cutting-edge charging solutions to be brought into everyday mobility, concretely contributing to the transport electrification”, added Venturini.

Meanwhile, Marc Saurina, Global Business Partnerships Director at Dorna Sports highlighted that since MotoE started in 2019, they have achieved a strong, competitive, exciting and important series that is true to their values, making a perfect match with Dorna’s ESG strategy.”

The Enel Infrastructure

At all Cup races, Enel X provided JuiceRoll Race Edition, the new charging network designed and developed specifically for MotoE, that was deployed from the debut on May 2, 2021 at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

The JuiceRoll Race Edition is an innovative charger with internal storage and two interconnected units. A semi-mobile unit (SMU) and a mobile unit (MU), which can charge an electric motorcycle in about 40 minutes.

The SMU supplies energy to recharge vehicles with the support of a solar panel system, working directly in the ePaddock area.

The MU, on the other hand, makes it possible to supply the motorcycles at the pit lane and at the starting grid. Specifically, the MU offers a final charge of seven minutes on the starting grid, giving more distance capacity than in previous seasons.

During the ePaddock charging session, JuiceRoll Race Edition can supply up to 1 MW spread over 20 chargers, requiring only 100 kW of solar panels and the grid under normal operating conditions, thanks to the integrated storage unit.
