Extreme E managed to leave a significant footprint in Saudi Arabia after selecting this nation as the right one to inaugurate the first season of the 100% electric rally category, recording great results at an economic and social level, according to the international data analysis and research organization, YouGov Sport.

From April 3 to 4, Rosberg X Racing, X44, Andretti United and company prepared to compete at the Desert X Prix with the intention of promoting sustainability and addressing environmental issues affecting the planet. The best part is now, the competition met expectations, exceeded them and produced great results at the Yanbu and Al-Ula locations.

After a series of market studies, YouGov Sport revealed that taking Extreme E to the aforementioned locations resulted in 4.37 million euros in rewards, partly by employing the necessary staff, transportation and providing local food and beverages, getting the message across on a green path to gradually replace fossil fuels.

The Numbers of Extreme E

Saudi Arabia wasn’t the only one to benefit after the race was held, as Extreme E also got its share. Nearly €32 million flowed into the electrified category after the Desert X Prix from TV Rights (around 51 global broadcast markets), and of course, those results reaffirm that sustainable rallying is here to stay.

“We are delighted to have received this data from YouGov Sport. It’s a fantastic result not only for us as a new series, but also for our host venue Al-Ula, a fledgling area eager to boost its tourism opportunities, an essential income source for the people who live there. Not only that, but the legacy and conservation program at the Yanbu and Al-Ula areas continues to flourish long after the Desert X Prix itself, so in essence, our event continues to give back, which is one of our main objectives,” said Al Russell, Extreme E’s Marketing Director.

After this event, the schedule went full steam ahead to Senegal and Greenland. The latter had a major impact on one of the most important places for climate stability in the world, and after passing through the freezing climate of the region, Extreme E is preparing to face the Island X Prix, where Sardinia, Italy, will be the main protagonist from October 3 to 24.
