Lukas Tulovic Dominates in Austria and all will be settled on the Final Day

At one of the most exciting races of the season, Lukas Tulovic led from start to finish, winning the Austrian Grand Prix, the second-to-last round of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup.

The German had a great beginning, despite starting in second place, taking the lead on the opening lap and never letting it go again, for his first win in the electric motorcycle category.

Eric Granado, on the other hand, had an epic comeback after recovering from a mistake he made in qualifying, when nearly crashed, and had to start from thirteenth place. With an aggressive race, the Brazilian performed important maneuvers, including a double overtake at the end, to occupy the second position. Dominique Aegerter closed the podium with third place.

Adverse Conditions

The race was reduced to 5 laps instead of 7, due to track conditions, where Tulovic was able to keep his rivals at bay, despite the strong pressure from Granado, who was one of the fastest drivers during practice prior to the race.

Spaniard Fermín Aldeguer, from Openbank team, finished at the base of the podium ahead of Hikari Okubo, while World Championship Leader, Alessandro Zaccone, finished sixth.

Defending Champion, Pons Racing’s Jordi Torres, Matteo Ferrari, Kevin Zannoni and the Colombian Yonny Hernandez rounded off the top 10 of this demanding race at the Spielberg track.

After these results, the thrilling MotoE riders’ standings are even tighter. Italian Zaccone holds the lead, only 7 points behind Brazilian Eric Granado. One point back is Jordi Torres, followed by Dominique Aegerter and the winner of the day, Lukas Tulovic, placed fifth.

The Electric Series World Cup will have its final round exactly one month from now, when the riders will be looking for the crown at the Misano Grand Prix, Italy, on the weekend of September 17-19.
