A few days after the announcement of an alliance with the electric scooter manufacturers, Vmoto Soco, in order to improve logistics at the races, the Moto E World Championship is introducing an adjustment to strengthen its operations.

It is the new BMW i4 M50 Safety Car, to debut soon at the Grand Prix in Spielberg, Austria, on Sunday, August 15. The new prototype will replace the BMW i8, which served as a motorcycle escort on the track.

The BMW i8 is the first all-electric model developed by the BMW M GmbH department featuring two engines, one in front and one at the rear, providing 544 hp. The chassis features an M-specific configuration and the sound has been meticulously developed, detailed the automotive giant.

“With the BMW i4 M50 we are starting a new era by introducing our first M with a purely electric drive,” emphasized Markus Flasch, Head of BMW M GmbH.

He stated that “with the first M BEV, we are setting the future course, where combining extremely sporty performance vehicles and electrification is an exciting topic. We show all the valuable work and typical emotional driving experience with sportiness, power and dynamism which can also be fully electric.”

More Vehicle Details

As BMW highlighted, the i4 M50 is the most powerful version currently available with a reported 510 km range. The performance, that can rely on the Sport Boost function to deliver a maximum torque of 795 Nm for about 10 seconds, offers a 0-100 km / h in 3.9 seconds using Launch Control.

The maximum extra power is also 225 km / h. So far, the German company has provided no details on setting up the car. In any case, it has the ad hoc tuning specific to the M model, as well as the electronically controlled Adaptive M suspension with front reinforced suspension, the aerodynamic Servotronic.

It also has an upgraded braking system with 373 mm discs. While the labeling is distinguished by fluorescent yellow lettering and graphics, applied on the front side.

BMW expects to introduce the car on the market this November, and is confident that MotoE, the Official Competition of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, will serve as a showcase for this fascinating electric creation.
