Virante: Hydrogen-Powered Car from Spain joins Innovation Battle
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Linkedin

The Spanish automotive industry does not want to be left behind by the great technological and sustainable advances being developed in Asia, Europe, the United States and Latin America. In this regard, Tecnovelero has come up with an innovation which promises to be trendy on the green market.

The company teamed up with Arcamo Controls, a hydrogen-based manufacturing specialist headquartered in Madrid belonging to the Arcamo Group, to introduce the Virante project, the first Tecnovelero electric car, in a hydrogen powered version.

Virante is a vehicle that can be customized from 4 to 25 kilowatts, whose thermal equivalents are 5.3 and 33.5 horsepower. However, there will also be a high-capacity version, with 40 kilowatts – 53.6 horsepower – designed for heavy-duty or rural applications.

The load volume of this version will be 1,000 liters, equipped with special tires, and a number of technical solutions designed for the professional sector.

Strong Engineering Team involved

The project includes various collaborations with public research organizations (OPI). For example, the National Hydrogen Center, an agency promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, will participate.

This center is fully dedicated to the development of hydrogen-related technologies, and will collaborate on this program by providing support, qualified technical and research equipment, as well as laboratories and an experimentation center.

There will be also organizations like Eurecat, Technological Center of Catalonia, providing knowledge related to the automotive sector, as well as the Laboratory of Research in Fluid Dynamics and Combustion Technologies, specialized in fluid mechanics, such as hydrogen.

Plans Beyond the Vehicle

Tecnovelero and Arcamo agree that the initiative has to transcend the presentation of the new vehicle, so they want to collaborate with different administrations and other entities in order to build hydrogen stations, so it ends up being a project for the hydrogen technology development throughout Spain.

In addition, “they pointed out that are working due to the need of align everything towards a 100% sustainable orientation, capable of covering demands from a country where green energies will be the priority”.
