This is How MotoE will be Disputed in 2022

The FIM Enel MotoE World Cup has already given a glimpse of what will be the fourth season by introducing a provisional calendar, still subject to change.

It is composed of seven days, with the major novelty of having a double race on all of them. This will bring MotoE to 14 dates in one season, doubling the seven dates in 2020 and 2021, and comfortably surpassing the six in 2019. During all those campaigns, the tournament only had a double race at Misano.

The riders will have up to six test days during the preseason, all of them at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto. The first days will be held from March 7 to 9, and one month later, from April 11 to 13.

Spain will Host the Debut Again

The same Andalusian track will host the first round of the season, coinciding with the Spanish Grand Prix, from April 30 to May 1, where two races will be held.

Two weeks later, the second round will take place at Le Mans, and in May, the third round will be held at Mugello from the 28th to the 29th.

At the end of June, it will be the turn for the visit to the mythical TT Circuit of Assen, the Netherlands, before the new Finnish track of KymiRing in mid-July.

Misano is Back to Decide All

After a month’s break, from 20 to 21 August, the MotoE stars will land at the Red Bull Ring to match the Austrian GP. Finally, at the beginning of September – from 3 to 4 – the season will come to an end at the Misano Marco Simoncelli World Circuit, where the exciting “season finale” will take place.

In addition to the calendar, the electric motorcycle series announced changes on the qualifying format, which will adopt a rhythm quite similar to that of Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP.

Riders will participate on two free practice sessions starting on Fridays. The MotoE high commission made these adjustments with the aim of simplifying the understanding of the discipline and, above all, to offer more equitable rounds of competition for all riders.

What remains unchanged is the racing duration, which in principle will continue to be very short. Energica, the sole supplier of bikes for the championship, will leave the category at the end of the season to bring in Ducati, a modification that could increase the autonomy.

Since it arrived in 2019 until the upcoming 2022 season, the interest, growth and solidification has been considerable, therefore, it has everything going for it to grow and become a pioneer of electrified bike racing.

Summary: WES World E-Bike Series arrives as an innovative series where adrenaline, sustainability and speed are present at all times.
