After a vibrant start in Saudi Arabia, the 2020-21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship lands in Rome for the races on April 10-11.

The Italian city has always been present on the calendar and Formula E has wanted to sign a long-term contract with the E-Prix of Rome, at least until 2025.

“Rome is again a key reference for Formula E and remains an attraction for big events. When we get out of this difficult situation, we must come back stronger than ever before,” said Virginia Raggi, Mayor of Rome.

Track details

For this occasion, Formula E will present an almost completely renovated layout of the Rome E-Prix, although it is true that the new track retains the complicated characteristics for which the city has become known, with undulations and changes in elevation and variations of surface.

It features technical sections and tight corners, as well as a series of fast and wide corners. Which makes it one of the most challenging tracks on the calendar. At 19 laps, the 3,385 km circuit is one of the longest faced by drivers  in Formula E.

Wheel-to-wheel between pilots

Nyck de Vries of the Mercedes-EQ team heads to Italy at the top of the drivers’ standings after his performance in Saudi Arabia ePrix.

It is going to be interesting to re-enjoy Robin Frijns and Edo Mortara, as they impressed Diriyah, after both took the podium.

As for Tag Heuer Porsche, we will see if André Lotterer and Pascal Wherlain can improve their results and score important points for the team.

In addition, Nissan will have to improve compared to the last appointment, although its drivers offered us a real show, with an unusual fight between the two.

Looking back, the last visit to Rome left us an exciting career thanks to the battle between Mitch Evans and Lotterer, both of whom fought head-to-head for 45 minutes. In the end, it was the Australian who emerged victorious, forcing Lotterer to settle for second place.
