Sebastien Buemi is one of the most successful drivers in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. He is one of four series champions and not only has the most number of wins, but also an exceptional amount of Julius Baer Pole Positions to match.

The Swiss began his racing career with a successful karting campaign before advancing to the German Formula BMW championship in 2004, where he finished third in his debut season, behind another future Formula 1 driver, Sebastian Vettel.

Despite having tested Formula 1 cars for the first time at the age of 15, when he had the opportunity to drive an Arrows F1, it was only in 2009 that Buemi made his Formula 1 debut.

He worked his way to 12th place in the 2006 F3 Euroseries season, before making his GP2 debut in 2007. In 2009, he came to Formula 1 after drawing the attention of Toro Rosso, who later signed with him that same year and Buemi became the first Swiss driver to compete in Formula 1 since 1995.

He continued driving for Toro Rosso until the end of the 2011 season, when he teamed up with Jean Eric Vergne. Despite having no other appearances with the team, Buemi maintains his connection with Red Bull as a reserve driver.

On any track

In addition to competing in Formula E, Buemi also participates in the World Endurance Championship / WEC with Toyota, winning the world championship in 2014 and a first place in the Le Mans 24 Hours race in 2018.

After clinching three championship titles with his previous Renault e.dams team, Buemi switched to the e.dams team, which acquired the new name Nissan e.dams, in his debut Formula E season with rookie driver Oliver Rowland. The duo took the team to fourth place in the team standings, just one place away from the podium, and Buemi finished second behind Jean Eric Vergne in the drivers’ championship.

Entering his sixth season in Formula E, Buemi once again partnered with Rowland. After catching up with development in the early rounds, Buemi began his career to score points with a third place finish in Mexico City.

Along with Rowland’s performance, the Swiss driver’s three podium finishes at the season finale of six races in Berlin helped Nissan e.dams to second place in the team championship.

For the 2020-21 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Buemi continues his relationship with Nissan e.dams and the most successful driver in series history will attempt to win the first world championship trophy.
