Preparations continue for the Gen3 car that will take to the track with Porsche in season 9 of Formula E. A few days ago, the brand’s new signing,Antonio Felix da Costavisited the facilities in Germany where details of the single-seater are being fine-tuned and his paddock mate, Pascal Wehrlein has been in charge of driving most of the tests.

The German confirmed the team’s statements that the test results have been satisfactory. “Our new single-seater conveys a very good feeling,” said the racer, who achieved the first Formula E victory for Porsche last season in Mexico.

Both Wehrlein and da Costa have completed an intensive test program with the Porsche 99X Electric Gen3 at the Circuit de Mallorca. The electric car, which has been developed in Weissach, will be presented on November 7 at the Porsche Experience Center in Franciacorta, Italy.

In addition to the Mallorca days, other recent test sessions have been held at the Calafat Circuit in the Spanish province of Tarragona.

The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team has gained important information about its new car, which will debut in Mexico City on January 14, 2023 in the first race of the ninth season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Great Expectations

The season about to begin has generated great motivation among the squads, since, according to Formula E promoters, the Gen3 single-seaters are the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electrified racing cars built to date.

“Excitement is in the air ahead of the start of our fourth season in the ABB FIA Formula E FIA World Championship,” says Florian Modlinger, Competition Director of the Official Formula E Team.

“The cards are being shuffled again with the Gen3 single-seaters. Now, all the teams are on the same technical level. That’s a guarantee of excitement and a fight in the races,” he said in statements reviewed by the Porsche website.

Modlinger says it has been great to see the Porsche 99X Electric Gen3 on the track and to work with new factory driver António Félix da Costa, who has been testing at various circuits since joining the team in mid-August.

“The tests over the past few weeks have been demanding and challenging,” he says. “But they have also helped us to make great progress during the preseason. We have been able to complete our program as planned and have gathered relevant information to continue working on the new car.”
