The Pure ETCR action returned to the tracks with a new round held in Copenhagen from August 6 to 8. Pilots Philipp Eng and Oli Webb took the first victory in the opening round to gain momentum for Sunday’s definition, which will be loaded with excitement and adrenaline.

Aboard his Alfa Romeo Ferraris-M1RA, Eng achieved an outstanding performance on his first time aboard a 100% electric touring car. Copenhagen was the debut race for the Austrian, who was matched in Group B for the second battle, taking advantage of Tom Chilton’s jammed Hyundai Veloster N ETCR man.

“I was sure Philipp would have a very good performance. He has a lot of experience on street circuits. He made a good start and gave us a very important victory,” said Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris-M1RA Operations Manager after confirming the great performance.

Battle in Copenhagen

Meanwhile, Oli Webb triumphed in Group A to seal a double victory for Alfa Romeo Ferraris-M1RA, as the Briton also did his part on the other side of the grid, battling intensely against Dániel Nagy (CUPRA X Zengo Motorsport) and John Filippi (Hyundai Motorsport N), highlighting how favorable it is in a race to be starting on the inside of the track.

“The inside is always a preferable starting position, but the practice breakaways were all in the middle and the racing line is on the outside. There was also some water in a drain cover in front of me, so I wasn’t looking forward to it. But I figured it out, pulled away and the other guys had a battle, so I was able to control it,” he said.

His teammate, Luca Filippi, was not so lucky after being overly optimistic on the long run and ending up out of the competition, causing a red flag due to debris strewn over crucial sections of the circuit. Also, Mattias Ekström suffered his first defeat in the opening rounds of the Pure ETCR.
