Norman Nato Motivated for First Race in Brazil

With a great tradition and top drivers who have been among the elite, Brazil stands as one of the capitals of world motorsport. Figures such as Ayrton Senna, Rubens Barrichello, among others, have left great roots of motor sports in the Amazonian territory.

Precisely, Brazil will host this weekend a new chapter of season 9 of Formula E, and experienced racers such as Norman Nato expressed their motivation to have the opportunity to compete in it.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to know Brazil, I’ve never been there. I know it’s a huge country, Sao Paulo will be a fun race, it’s surely a very special place for the drivers,” said Nissan’s flag bearer.

“I don’t really know what to expect, I haven’t seen the track yet, we will prepare it in the simulator, but I’m really looking forward to going to Brazil for the first time,” he added.

Great Experience

Nato is experiencing a new category after an extensive resume that places him as one of the most senior drivers on the circuit. He has been in the junior divisions, Formula Reanult 3.5 Series, GP2 Series, Formula 2, raced the 24 Hours of Le Mans (he finished second in 2020), among others.

He was also part of Formula E in the 2020/2021 season, in which he achieved a win. Now, he returned to Nissan to compete in the category again. “Nissan is really active in motorsports, in Japan they are very important, and also now in Formula E it is growing. The team is in a new process,” he noted.

He explained that he is at the beginning of a new chapter, so he is in the situation to say “let’s build this team, this family. Formula E is the right championship to do it, and I’m sure Nissan will continue to grow in other championships as well.”

Regarding street circuits, he noted that he really enjoys street racing. “They are something I really enjoy and where I have done well in the past. In karting and Formula 1, Formula 2, in Monaco, I enjoy street circuits and Formula E is the perfect championship, because of the circuits, the high level of drivers, teams and manufacturers.”

He stated that the most fun is the atmosphere in the paddock among the racers. “It’s one of the only championships where the drivers go out to eat together before or after the races. It’s a big contest on the track but there’s a lot of respect, and outside of that we’re good friends, and that’s something I really enjoy in Formula E,” he maintained.

In addition, Nato revealed what his routine is before a race. “Paddle tennis is something I practice quite a lot because I like it and it’s a good workout that I can practice sometimes for a few hours.

It’s also very good for reflexes. I like to run, I go to the gym. And I also like to do yoga to stretch and also to disconnect. Basically I try to adapt my training to what I need in the car,” he concluded.
