Sébastien Buemi’s fifth place finish was the best result achieved by Nissan e.dams in the Formula E double-header race in Rome. The Franco-Japanese team is already preparing for the next round in Valencia, where they aim to improve their performance.

The team scored 12 points during the Italian weekend, on a reconfigured circuit for the E-Prix. Buemi finished fifth and tenth, earning a total of 11 points.

His teammate, Oliver Rowland, despite some difficulties on the track, kept a good pace, setting the best time in the group classification, adding a point and placing himself in 3rd place in the Super Pole on Saturday.

“They were two exciting races for the fans, especially with the rain that accompanied Sunday’s race. Too bad about the score: we expected more,”said Tommaso Volpe, Nissan’s Global Motorsports Director.

“In Saturday’s race, Oli managed to qualify with a good time, but then both drivers had difficulties with the slippery surface and could not get into the second qualifying group in Sunday’s race. Seb had to fight to the end in both races to score points. We will make up for it in the next two races in Valencia,” he added.

The penalties

“We were a bit unlucky this weekend,” said Olivier Driot, co-principal of the Nissan e.dams team. “The drivers did well in terms of time in both races, but we had to deal with a lot of penalties that cost us some points.”

“We will do everything possible to recover in Valencia. Formula E is a very competitive and extremely unpredictable championship, but that is precisely what makes it so exciting,” he concluded.

For his part, Buemi said: “It has been a demanding weekend; I thought we would have been faster. Anyway, we took off fifth position in race third and a point in fourth. We are already projected towards Valencia”.

Formula E’s next stop will be in Valencia, Spain, where the team promises to improve its results.
