Nissan is gearing up to debut at the Shanghai International Circuit this weekend for rounds 11 and 12 of the 2023/24 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, with season 10 nearing its final six rounds.

In their last outing in Berlin, Oliver Rowland started from P15 and P16 on Saturday and Sunday respectively, securing two podiums, bringing his tally to six for the season, placing him third in the World Championship standings.

“Shanghai will be a completely different type of circuit than what we faced in Berlin, so my goal is to position myself and the car in a slightly better window in qualifying to move further up the grid. The differences at the front are so small that any improvement will be of great help,” Rowland stated.

His teammate, Sacha Fenestraz, has also shown great performance in recent events, with a positive pace and scoring points in four of the last five races.

“As a team, we’ve been working on improving in qualifying, getting the tyres in the right window to return to the Super Poles regularly,” commented Fenestraz.

Nissan: China E-Prix

China hosted the first E-Prix in 2015, around the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing, and the last time the series visited the country was five years ago in Sanya. On that occasion, Rowland secured pole position for the team and finished second in the race, earning his first Formula E podium.

Known primarily as the host of the Chinese Grand Prix, the circuit for this weekend has been modified in its entirety to accommodate Formula E machinery. The track now features 12 turns, with the first standing out due to its technical nature gradually narrowing into the rolling complex of turns 2 to 4.

Finally, the intense braking zones leading into turns 6 and 10 will likely provide the best overtaking opportunities during the two races.
