Nico Rosberg’s passion for electric technology led him to abandon the prestigious Formula 1 category to venture into the new Formula E and form a team in the also nascent Extreme E.

The driver has defended everything that is being innovated with this style of mobility and after retiring from Formula 1 and winning the world championship in the 2016 season, he has invested in different businesses to bet on electric mobility, becoming even in inverter of Formula E.

Imminent merger

He has no doubt that sooner or later, Formula 1 and Formula E will end up merging to face an electric future in the world of motorsport. Rosberg highlights the virtues of the electric category, which he disputes in the first season and compares it with a legendary competition such as Formula 1.

“The hybrid engine is more efficient than combustion, even with synthetic fuels. Electric power will become even more sustainable thanks to the new battery technology. I already commented in 2018 that F1 will end up merging with Formula E”

Electric mobility

The German pilot’s work goes beyond racing and he is currently a co-founder of the Green Tech Festival, which is designed to provide a global platform on green technologies in the fields of mobility, energy and lifestyle. He is also a partner in the Team Rosberg Engineering (TRE).

“The new attraction lies in the silent speed. When I travel with my daughters, that calm that is produced is wonderful. I also don’t like the service stations. Now, I get home at night, I plug my car and ready,” said Nico Rosberg.

Important to mention that the pilot announced his new project by forming an Extreme E team, Rosberg Xtreme Racing (RXR).

“We are thrilled to unveil Rosberg Xtreme Racing as the latest addition to Extreme E. The series represents an amazing opportunity to not only drive awareness but also inspire action in the fight against climate change – the single biggest threat to our planet today (…) Since retiring from F1 I have dedicated my career to sustainable technologies so to be able to combine these endeavours with my passion for racing is incredibly fulfilling,” told to the media.

Likewise, he points out that his foray into the Extreme E stands out for the choice of their locations, as they are habitats in extreme environmental danger and that the objective of these races is to capture the attention of fans of this sport around the world, but also from politicians and other authorities on climate change and ask them to increase their efforts to curb global warming.
