On the weekend of April 29 and 30, Formula E will once again come to the Principality of Monaco and will race on the same track used by Formula 1, the world’s top motor racing category. The track has become an emblem of motorsport, both for its tradition and the beautiful design of the circuit.

For the second consecutive year, the innovative electric single-seater series will use the entire Monte Carlo venue, but incorporating the classic style of the so-called “chicane de Nouvelle”, a series of curves that will be part of the complex.

In 2021, Formula E adopted the 19-turn layout conventionally used in the Formula 1 Grand Prix, but with a modification to the succession of corners located at the exit of the tunnel, in order to trigger more overtaking and offer an exciting spectacle.

Javier Maffioli, Director of Event Operations for the tournament, noted that successfully using the full Monaco track layout in 2021 was a big step forward for the FIA Formula E World Championship.

He explained that for this East campaign they are taking the final step, removing the minor modifications that were made for Formula E, in order to see drivers and cars performing on the historic layout.

“This is another important achievement for our discipline and we look forward to another exciting race on the streets of Monaco,” added Maffioli.

For his part, Christian Tornatore, General Commissioner of the Automobile Club of Monaco hopes that fans will be able to attend a race as competitive as the one held in 2021, an event that was won by Antonio Felix Da Costa.

Unlike last year, when the circuit received 6,500 spectators, full attendance is expected this year due to the relaxation of restriction measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gen3 Revelation

The E-Prix of Monaco will be highlighted by the presentation of the third generation car (Gen3) on April 28, a vehicle that, according to the championship promoters, will mark a turning point in terms of the speed it will be able to reach.

In view of the expectation, experienced drivers such as Lucas Di Grassi welcome this innovative advance, but pointed out that energy management should also be the main strategy of the teams.
