From June 18 to Sunday 20, a new chapter in the history of world motorsports was experienced with the arrival of the Pure ETCR, the first 100% electric touring cars series that provided a great show on the Autodromo Vallelunga, Rome, leaving Mikel Azcona (Motorsport X CUPRA driver) as winner.

Having won in Round 1 and Round 2, in addition to winning the DHL SuperFinal, gave him the necessary merits to proclaim himself as winner of the first championship race after accumulating 77 points in his favor, that is, the maximum number of units that any pilot could choose to reach, and as if that were not enough, he also took the distinction for the Most Valuable Driver.

Azcona showed skill behind the steering wheel after being disqualified in the Round 3 time trial, although he was also fortunate that his strongest rival, Mattias Ekström, was also disqualified when Cupra e-Racer engineers worked on the car. when you couldn’t while in the pits.

Of course, Azcona didn’t deprive himself in terms of enthusiasm about it and affirmed that they made history in the category, which made him feel very happy, especially for having started the DHL SuperFinal from the bottom, taking into consideration that at least 5 cars ahead had a competitive pace. I’m so happy. This is a great way to start the season”, he said.

“… I received very good information from my team on how to use the Power-Up. The team did a great job. “

“The first objective was to overtake Giulia on the first lap. We had a close battle and it was amazing. He was pushing to get past Farfus. I saw it spin and I won. I feel great,” Azcona said.

Also, the battle for third place was tight when Luca Filippi, John Filippi, Ferraris Oli Webb and Dániel Nagy gave everything to finish as high as possible.
