After a more than interesting start in Diriyah for TAG Heuer Porsche, the excitement of the ABB FIA Formula E will move this weekend to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for the Mexico E-Prix as part of the third round of the nascent season 8. There, the Germans were solid on their debut.

A pole position achieved in 2020 marked the beginning of Porsche at the highest electric single-seater category, therefore, they hope to repeat a similar result that will be transferred to the race itself, and for that, they will count on the talent and determination of their two drivers, Pascal Wehrlein and André Lotterer, also Germans.

However, the challenge will not be easy to face, because unlike the double round on Saudi soil, it will only be one race, one chance on an action packed day, so there will be no room for mistakes or second chances in Mexican territory.

The pace is there to fight at the top of the standings, and this is how Florian Modlinger, Race Director of the team, sees it perfectly: “We know that we face strong opposition, which we certainly do not underestimate. Even so, our clear objective is to fight for victory in Mexico.”

After the evidence in Diriyah, TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team knows that it needs to work on car aspects to make drivers faster at qualifying, in order to have a strong chance of battling for a good grid position during the knockout round. In Round 2, Lotterer was able to do so after sneaking into the semifinals, although Wehrlein was not so lucky.

Energy management is also one of the factors that Modlinger takes into special consideration. On paper, the Germans look strong in Mexico to effectively navigate the 2,606-meter circuit, which is home to one of the most emblematic areas of world motorsport: El Foro Sol with its unique baseball stadium shape.

On the drivers’ side, Lotterer affirms that it would be great to start again from the place of honor at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Winning as many races as possible is also important, but considering the length of the championship, scoring consistently good points is almost a necessity.

Wehrlein is also eager to show how fast Porsche can be in Mexico, but outside of the sport, he has great memories of the Latin American nation. Regarding the change of circuit, from Puebla to Hermanos Rodriguez, the former Formula 1 driver assured that they will be competitive there as well.

Finally, the table is set for the E-Prix of Mexico, third round of Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E to be held this Saturday, February 12, where the Germans will be a rival to watch very carefully.
