In just its first season in Formula E, McLaren NEOM is thinking about its permanent stay and with many titles to lift in the future within the competition.

To achieve these goals, the iconic brand will add two impressive talents to the rookie test to be held in Berlin on April 24, right after the German double-header of the championship.

McLaren will introduce Charlie Eastwood and Luke Browning to the track. Eastwood, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, has built an impressive resume over the past 10 years, predominantly in GT and Endurance competition.

Over the last decade, he became Porsche Cup champion in 2017, Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup (Pro-Am) champion in 2019 and won the European Le Mans Series – LMP2 Pro-Am in 2022, as well as the Asian Le Mans Series – LMP2 earlier this year.

“I’m absolutely looking forward to driving the Gen3 car in the Berlin Rookie Test,” says the 27-year-old. “I’ve been lucky enough to attend some of the races earlier this season, and I really like the championship.

Looking for Experience

For his part, UK-born Browning is the winner of the Autosport BRDC 2022 Award. In his short career, he already conquered the British F4 Championship in 2020, as well as the 2022 GB3 Championship.

“I’m really looking forward to getting into the NEOM McLaren Formula E car.” “I’m grateful for the opportunity to gain some experience in very different machinery than usual,” said the driver.

“I will be looking to get as much as I can from the successful and experienced team I will be surrounded by. It will be a different style of driving compared to what I am used to. I have no doubt I have a lot to learn, but I’m eager to learn as quickly as possible,” Browning added.

NEOM McLaren Director Ian James expressed his excitement about the testing that will provide new electric motorsport prospects.

“It’s a great way for us as a team to give talent the opportunity to test Gen3 machinery, while also being able to evaluate it. Our lineup is an exciting combination of Charlie, who we’ve been working closely with for a while now, and Luke, who is an emerging talent,” concluded the executive.
