The world of motorsport has historically been a male-dominated space. Over the decades, few women have had the opportunity to compete in major categories, including Formula 1, the most prestigious in motorsport.

However, in recent years, inclusion and diversity have become central issues for F1 and its fans, which is why the F1 Academy, a 100% women’s series derived from the Grand Circus, has been created.

There, Marta Garcia secured her name in the history books after winning the first race of the series. In addition, during the premiere weekend in Austria she ratified her talent in the service of Prema Racing, winning two races out of three that took place.

Historic Win

Garcia, a 22-year-old from Valencia, Spain, competed at the Spielberg circuit in an event that brought together some of the best female drivers in the world.

The victory was a historic moment not only for her, but for the entire sport of motorsport. For decades, women have struggled to find a place in Formula 1, and the creation of the F1 Academy has been seen as an important step towards inclusion and gender equality in the sport.

As such, her triumph came as no surprise to those who have followed her closely in recent years. She has demonstrated impressive skill and talent on the track, and has worked tirelessly to improve her technique and riding ability.

The Spaniard has experience in major categories, such as the W Series, where she has raced in all three of her seasons, earning one win, four podiums and two pole positions.

Finally, her victory places her as provisional leader of the F1 Academy with 58 points, preparing her perfectly for the next triple date, which will be very special for her, since it will be held at home, i.e. in Valencia, from May 5 to 7.
