With the Puebla E-Prix looming, Lucas Di Grassi has taken a few minutes to self-analyze his 2020-2021 FIA Formula E season, being totally honest with himself about what he has accomplished thus far. In addition, he hopes to continue improving towards the end of the campaign to finish in the best possible way in the four double-date dates that remain to be played.

The Brazilian admitted that he has not shown why he is one of the best drivers in the category, since the “Season Seven” of the electric competition is not the best for him, ranking 19 in the drivers’ championship with 14 units, being out in the third and fourth appointment of the calendar. In fact, his best performance so far is a seventh place.

Now, the driver’s problems are further aggravated when compared head-to-head with the performance of his teammate, René Rast, who sits in the eighth box of the general table. However, the situation is further complicated by raising the statistics to the next level: Robin Frijns is the leader of the FIA Formula E on board the same car that Di Grassi drives (Audi e-Tron FE07).

In terms of performance and race pace, the car has been there for Lucas Di Grassi in the current season, but for some reason things deviate and deprive the Brazilian of obtaining the results he has deserved in the various E-Prix disputed until the moment. Exactly, this happened in Rome and a good result went to waste.

In Valencia, on the other hand, the Audi driver had to compete with a huge weight on his back: the penalty suffered in Italy that relegated him to starting the race from the bottom. On the other hand, in Monaco he also had to row from the bottom, but the truth is that both he and the team must work on obtaining better qualifying results to opt for good points in the race.

“We are not going to give up, we are going to fight hard to improve in the eight races that remain.”

Lucas Di Grassi
