Extreme E is very close to define the champion of the second season, as in a few weeks will be held the Energy X Prix in Punta del Este Uruguay. The race will be a continuation of the series’ visit to South America, which previously raced in the Atacama Desert, Antofagasta, Chile.

Rosberg X Racing leads the championship with 83 points thanks to the constant and precise driving of its Swedish drivers, Johann Kristofferson and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, followed by the X44 duo, Sébastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez with 66 points, that is, a difference of 17 points between both competitors.

Lewis Hamilton’s team cut the gap considerably after winning in Chile. However, RXR continues to have a favorable advantage to be crowned two-time champion of the 100% electric off-road category. In third place is ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team with 60 points, closely followed by GMC HUMMER EV Chip Ganassi Racing, with 55 points.

McLaren XE is fifth with 34 points, followed by Genesys Andretti United (33 points), Xite Energy Racing (29 points), JBXE (25 points), ABT Cupra XE (21 points) and finally, Veloce Racing (8 points).

Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO of Extreme E, was pleased with the arrival of the series in Uruguay, the site selected to close with a flourish the second season of the category, next November 26 and 27. “We are delighted to travel to Punta del Este, for the final X Prix of season 2”.

“The Energy X Prix promises to be a spectacular event, especially as we have such a tight battle for the lead with four teams still in the running to win the championship, we are sure it will be one of our most exciting rounds yet,” he continued.

Likewise, he highlighted the nation’s sustainable commitment to an energy transition that reduces greenhouse gases. “We are excited to compete in one of the most proactive countries in its commitment to combat the climate crisis,” he concluded.
