Jordi Torres on Competing in MotoE: “Every Race is a Knife in your Mouth”

After celebrating the title obtained in 2021, Jordi Torres has turned the page to concentrate on the 2022 MotoE season. The road began with the pre-season free tests held at the Circuito de Jerez, the same that will open the new campaign, and with it, a battle that will have him as the main protagonist.

Ahead of the upcoming season, Jordi Torres talked to the press department of the 100% electric motorcycle category, where he described his participation as “running with a knife in his mouth”. Torres referred to MotoE as the fastest competition he has ever participated in.

However, the challenge of this series has been successfully accepted by the Spaniard, who serves as the brand new two-time champion in the category endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. “Don’t give me a single meter to try to win the race,” says Torres.

“Winning both titles was incredible. No words are able to describe the season before because it was an incredible battle. I think it was amazing, in the last two or three races everything happened,” asserted Torres with a smile on his face that showed satisfaction after successfully fighting a complicated fight.

For the Spaniard, every race is at the limit, where you always have to give 110% of what you have in every straight, corner or overtaking you set out to do. Finding the balance between being extremely competitive without hurting your rival is an important point that Jordi analyzes. Fighting without touching the nearest motorcycle.

2022 for Jordi Torres

“This year it will be more difficult to stay on top, where for sure there can be more fighting, more overtaking. It will be fun, both for the fans and for the riders. It will be the last year with Energica (supplying the official championship bike) where many riders want to be up front.”

Keeping the same way he did to conquer the bicampeonato will be the card to play on the part of Torres. Being focused and going step by step to control all the aspects that the riders can handle at will during the races, will Jordi Torres be able to become a three-time MotoE champion in a row?
