After the first day, the competition announced that the second appointment will take place in Bologna, Italy. With the opening of the tournament two years ago, the WES 2021 circuit has taken on a new format with two race days on the weekend: “Race 1” on Saturday and “Race 2” on Sunday.

The next test of the circuit will be WES Bologna-Appennino, presented by Suzuki Hybrid, on June 5 and 6 in the Bolognese municipality of Castiglione dei Pepoli, where the organizer formed an extremely technical ring that will also enter the territory of Camugnano, located in the Apennines.

The E-Bike caravan of cyclists will move to Emilia Romagna with the aim of winning points that will allow access to the specialty world championships in August.

“In the off-road environment, WES has believed in e-bikes since its inception,” Marco Aurelio Fontana, a bronze medalist at the London 2012 Olympics, told the Italian press.

“Every year it gets more and more exciting, putting on a great show and excellent competition. After the two editions of 2019 and 2020, I am sure that we will see an even higher level, both from a competitive and organizational point of view”, he assured.

The Italian rider, with more than ten podiums between world and European events and the WES E-XC 2019 title, at the start of the WES Bologna Appennino, will meet the French E-XC specialist Jérôme Gilloux (E-Team Mustache), medalist silver in the 2020 UCI E-MTB World Championship and current leader of the men’s ranking.

Nathalie Schneitter (Trek), 2019 UCI E-MTB World Champion and winner of the WES Munich 2020 race, will also line up at the start, who will have to face the German leader of the current WES classification Sofia Wiedenroth (Specialized), the world champion in charge, Mélanie Pugin from France (BH E-Racing Team) and Kathrin Stirnemann from Switzerland (Thömus RN Swiss Bike Team).
