In February 2023, Hyderabad, India will host its first Formula E race, during a season that generates a lot of expectation due to the arrival of Gen3 cars.

The Asians are aware of the boom that the electric single-seater series is achieving, so they do not want to disappoint in the sporting event and are already fine-tuning details for the race.

On November 19 and 20, tests were carried out to evaluate the conditions of the circuit. Following the tests, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will adjust safety measures on the race track around the Tank Bund.

The track built around the Hussain Sagar Lake is being tested in terms of safety and other specifications mentioned by the FIA, world motorsport’s governing body, ahead of the next set of evaluations on December 10 and 11.

Focus on Safety

In a press release, HMDA officials emphasized that the safety of drivers and spectators is of the utmost importance to the organization, which is why thorough preparations are being made in advance.

The authority also added that the test day in the IRL tournament is organized by Racing Promotions Pvt Ltd and in these races, the drivers compete in single-seater cars that run on regular fuel and not on electric technology as in Formula E.

The Asian region is conducting these tests to show the FIA that it can host major tournaments, and Formula E represents a golden opportunity. Hyderabad joins the action for the first time in the series’ history, with India welcoming all-electric motorsport to the country. Local team, Mahindra Racing will lead the contest with new management, technology and drivers.

Less than 50 days remain until the start of Formula E season 9 when 11 teams and 22 drivers will join the fight for the first trophy of the Gen3 era, in a category that arrives renewed in both innovation and image.
