Marta Garcia (Prema) shone in a thrilling Round 6 Race 1 at Monza, increasing her lead over Hamda Al Qubaisi and Léna Bühler, her main competitors in the F1 Academy title standings, where the Spanish driver made a superb start to overtake Rodin Carlin’s Abbi Pulling.

“The race was quite tough! The Safety Car restart was good, I took some space, but on this track with the wake, it’s quite complicated to stay P1 unless you are super fast,” Garcia said.

In the thrilling Race 2 at Monza, Léna Bühler beat PREMA Racing’s Bianca Bustamante to secure her second win of the season. Amna Al Qubaisi started from pole position with the intention of taking her third victory. However, all the drivers defended ably.

“I am quite happy. The race was tough, in the last laps Bianca was very fast behind me, so it’s very difficult to race without a slipstream. I started P5 and finished P1. These are good points for the title race,” commented Bühler.

Final Race and Championship

In Race 3, Bianca Bustamante conquered her second victory of the season, culminating an action-packed weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, after starting from second position, patiently waiting for her chance from the start, as Pulling, owner of the pole position, opened a gap with her PREMA Racing rival.

On the other hand, starting from fourth place, Garcia lived intense moments at the beginning of the race. The Spaniard dropped two positions to sixth, before coming into contact with title contender Bühler at the Alboreto Curve.

“It was a tough race. P2 in qualifying really helped me. In the beginning, the main goal was to run cleanly in the first corners. It was a great job by the team. The car was amazing,” said Bustamante.

Now, the drivers are preparing for the next round of the F1 Academy at Paul Ricard, ready to continue the action in just under two weeks for Round 6, scheduled for July 18-19.
