Formula E has unveiled the track layout for the 2024 Tokyo E-Prix to be held in March, the first time the Japanese capital will host a world motorsport championship race.

The challenging 2.582 km, 18-turn street circuit will encircle the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Japan’s largest venue, also known as Tokyo Big Sight, just minutes from downtown Tokyo.

The track includes three remarkable straights, technical tight cornering sequences and high-speed combinations against the stunning backdrop of the Tokyo metropolis.

A Great Challenge

Formula E track design experts are confident that the circuit will offer a challenge for the 22 drivers in the series, while providing maximum excitement and entertainment for race fans and TV viewers around the world.

The paddock area, with garages where teams and drivers prepare GEN3 race cars and plan race strategy, will be located on the Tokyo Bay waterfront.

The inaugural Formula E race in Tokyo will boost the use of ZEVs in Tokyo, and is the first time that public roads in Tokyo will be closed for a public road race and world championship event.

Like Formula E races held in iconic urban centers around the world, such as London, Berlin and Mexico City, the Tokyo E-Prix will offer fans excellent public transport links to the event, a key feature of Formula E’s industry-leading sustainability credentials.

Pioneering Competition

Formula E is officially the world’s most sustainable sport and the first sport to be classified as net zero carbon emissions since its inception.

The tournament is an industry leader that combines world-class sport with cutting-edge technology, innovation and sustainability.

“We are excited to present the track for the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix and are confident that it will create a unique challenge for the 22 Formula E drivers to showcase their elite driving skills and give the fans in Tokyo an experience they will never forget,” said Alberto Longo, Co-Founder and Director of the Formula E Championship.

“We are honored to be the first world motorsport championship to race on the streets of Tokyo,” he pointed out.
