Hot on the heels of the successful Portland E-Prix, Formula E announced new broadcast distribution partnerships in the United States that will see long-time partner CBS stream more races live on the “Roku Streaming Platform” channel as the electric series’ streaming site.

Beginning in January 2024, five races will be streamed live on CBS Television Network and simulcast on Paramount+, with both channels already featured and prominently integrated into the Roku platform.

Streaming users who subscribe to Paramount+ can easily enjoy the races streaming on the service through the Paramount+ app on Roku’s Sports Experience. CBS Sports Network will also show one featured program per round.

A Market to Explore

The new partnerships, which mark Roku’s first live sports rights acquisition, reflect the growing interest in electrified motorsports racing in the United States.

Starting next season, 11 races from the ABB FIA Formula E FIA World Championship will be available on The Roku Channel, a leader in ad-free streaming, and will also be easily accessible through Sports Experience on the Roku home screen.

Roku’s Sports Experience enables discovery and access to live and on-demand sports content, driving subscriber engagement and entertainment. In addition to offering streamers live racing, Roku will also provide its audience with a robust offering of content from the Formula E library, including the “Unplugged” documentary tracking series, as well as race previews, highlights, replays of all races and more.

Formula E, CBS Sports and Roku announced the groundbreaking multi-year broadcast agreement for the U.S. market following the first race of the ABB FIA Formula E FIA World Championship at Portland International Raceway in Oregon.

Aarti Dabas, Media Director for Formula E, noted that this is a powerful new partnership with CBS and Roku that will dramatically increase Formula E‘s audience reach and maximize visibility in the United States.

“We value the strength of our ongoing relationship with CBS and are thrilled to join forces with Roku and power Formula E content on their market-leading platform,” he noted.

The electrified category confirmed that it will return to Portland in Season 10 when the new broadcast partnership is active.
