Formula E final: Da Costa Regrets Crossing with Cassidy, but Celebrates Werhlein’s Title

The repercussions of the closing of Season 10 of Formula E continue, which ended with the title of German Pascal Werhlein, driver of the Porsche team, did not apologize for ending the chances of contact of title challenger Nick Cassidy.

“I don’t know what to say first,” the Portuguese began. “Congratulations to Pascal [Wehrlein] and our team because they are deserved champions and any of the three contenders would have been after this,” reviews the official website of the electric series.

With the entire track split by less than seven-tenths da Costa, Cassidy and Guenther tried to filter through. Cassidy had nowhere to go outside his Jaguar, with Guenther’s Maserati Tipo Folgore alongside, and despite trying to yield, da Costa caught the Jaguar driver’s left rear tyre – an instant flat tire that ended the race and the championship.

“The way we’re racing at the moment, with everything getting complicated, it’s very easy for that to happen, but I still feel horrible. I was in an excellent position to win the race with both ATTACK MODES,” continued da Costa.

The Key to Victory

“I’m happy to be able to help Pascal the way I did. By the same token, I’m reluctant to take it away from Nick. I know how difficult it is to win this championship, so all I can say is that I’m sorry for him, his family and his team.”

The Season 6 Champion won more races than anyone else in Season 10, even when one was taken away due to a technical infringement at Misano.

A streak of four wins in five from Berlin to Portland is a feat that only he and Season 2 champion Sebastien Buemi have achieved in Formula E.

A difficult start to Season 10 meant the title was always unlikely, but da Costa is already visualizing the 11th campaign, with talk of Porsche seeking his replacement now firmly quelled with those on-track heroics.
